Collins Pay & Card Authentication FAQs

How long does it take for us to get the money on Collins Pay?

If you are using the API Collins Pay (Option 1) the money, when taken from the client goes straight into your account. If you are using our Collins Pay (Option 2) the money takes 1-2 working days to appear in your account. (Options can be found here

If you hold the money on Collins Pay Option 2, is it all secure?

Yes we use secure client bank accounts for Collins Pay. While the money is taken by DesignMyNight, we have no access to the funds in these accounts. Our automated system then fires off the funds to your bank account(s) within 1-2 working days.

Do we get charged for using the card authentication system?

To authenticate your client's card is a completely free service within Collins. If you do then need to claim the money from your client, there is a transaction fee applied for taking the money from the client's account and putting it into your account. Fees can be found here

How quickly do we get the claimed money from a card authentication?

For claimed money from a card authentication, we will include these in our normal Collins Pay bank transfers.

Do you put a shadow on our clients' cards with card authentication?

No there is no shadow and the funds aren't held. Our system checks that the card belongs to the holder, does a risk check and checks they have the funds available. If the client does close their card/account, you would not be able to claim the money.

With Collins Pay and card authentication, who holds the card details?

We use Stripe, a secure payment system, to run both. Therefore, neither you nor we get access to the card details. These are securely stored in Stripe's cloud. The card details are stored for up to 3 months by Stripe.

Are both systems PCI compliant?

Yes they are both fully PCI compliant. WFL Media LTD T/A has a PCI compliance certificate issued by World Pay. See guide for more details on this.

What happens if the customer emails their card details to us?

Collins will automatically mask any emails containing a valid card number - See guide.

What security is involved when a customer makes a payment or authentication?

When a customer makes a payment or authentication, various checks will be made on the card, including; Card Verification Code Check CVC (also referred as CVV) & Address Verification based on the postal code. If the postal code given does not match the postal code that the card is registered, the customer will be taken through 3D Secure. This allows the customer's bank to make the decision on whether the payment will be allowed or declined.

How do we reconcile our Collins Pay accounts?

For claimed card authentications, you will get statements sent to you. For Collins pay transactions, there is a full report you can pull within Collins in the "Reports" section > "Customer Payments". (See this guide for more information on Customer Payments.)

How do the Collins Pay funds appear in our bank account?

We do daily bulk transfers of the funds. These will appear in your account from WFL Media LTD. In your Bank Transfers report in Collins, it will break the payment down by customer ref for you, so you can see the make up of the transfer. (See this guide for more information on Bank Transfers.)
